Strategic Plan

A stronger South Carolina through the arts.
Over a two year period the South Carolina Arts Alliance board and staff gathered stakeholder input, assessed current initiatives, and weighed institutional knowledge to chart the next chapter for our organization. Beginning in 2024, we crafted a set of strategic priorities to guide our work over the next three years. The resulting strategic plan, and its goals, aligns with the core components of our mission — advocacy, leadership development, and public awareness for the arts.
Our revised mission and vision statements reaffirm these priorities, with updated language to better reflect the purpose of each tenant. The new mission statement also recognizes that by strengthening the arts in our state, we are building a stronger South Carolina.
To further emphasize arts advocacy as our primary purpose we developed a set of values centered specifically on the guiding principles and desired outcomes of that work.
Goal 1
Lead advocacy initiatives that strengthen support for arts in public policy and empower advocates to take action.

Objective 1: Position the South Carolina Arts Alliance as the leading voice for public policy and public funding that supports arts and arts education.
Objective 2: Strengthen support for the arts in the SC General Assembly through the Legislative Arts Caucus.
Objective 3: Provide effective, relevant, and accessible advocacy resources to grassroots advocates.
Objective 4: Provide opportunities for South Carolinians to participate in arts advocacy activities.

Objective 1: Convene the sector and facilitate leadership development opportunities for artists and arts leaders through CreativeSC.
Objective 2: Supplement and support leadership development offered by partners, communities, and institutions.
