During the 1967-68 year, a new indicator of what the arts mean to South Carolina was born. It was the South Carolina Arts Commission, the state’s first arts agency. Fifty years later, the Commission helps support over 6 million arts experiences across the state each year and brings leadership and guidance to an industry that has a $9.7 billion impact in our state. We sit down with the SCAC’s Executive Director, Ken May, to talk about their 50th Anniversary, the growth of the agency, and the future of the arts in South Carolina.
