August 7 Update:
Advocates now have several opportunities to take action on this issue, by submitting public comment or attending the next meeting.
A message from our Executive Director:
Hello, Arts Advocates,
I’m writing to alert you to recent news concerning FY27 Operating Support Grants from the South Carolina Arts Commission.
On Saturday, The Post and Courier reported that the agency’s Board of Commissioners delayed a vote on FY27 Operating Support grant categories while it seeks legal counsel to clarify how Federal Executive Order 14168 applies to state level grant making. The agency has paused all FY27 Operating Support funds until the vote takes place at a later date.
At this time no action is needed, but we will continue to follow closely and keep you up to date as the process moves forward.
While no funding has been cancelled, the delayed approval of these grant categories will have a real-time impact on organizations and communities throughout the state. As always, we will continue to advocate for public funding that provides access to the arts for all South Carolinians, regardless of background or geography.
Thank you for all you do to enrich your communities through the arts.

Jeff Robinson
Executive Director
