This year, our virtual Arts Advocacy Week will include a special event gallery tour of the Halsey Institute in Charleston, South Carolina.

Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston

About the Halsey:

The Halsey is a non-collecting museum at the College of Charleston School of the Arts that provides a multidisciplinary laboratory for the production, presentation, interpretation, and dissemination of ideas by innovative visual artists from around the world. They create meaningful interactions between adventurous artists and diverse communities within a context that emphasizes the historical, social, and cultural importance of the art of our time.

As a part of Monday’s Arts Advocacy Week Schedule, we will be hosting a gallery tour in the Halsey at 3 pm on Facebook Live. The Halsey is currently in the midst of the exhibition, GEOLOCATION by Nate Larson and Marni Shindelman.

About the Exhibit:

Artist duo Nate Larson and Marni Shindelman explore the connection between text and images, digital and analog, and private versus public. The artwork is created by Larson and Shindelman using publicly-accessible geographic data from tweets as their map and traveling to the location where the tweet was posted. Once there, the artists make a photograph from the location, connecting the tweet to the physical location.
