In his Executive Budget proposal issued on January 13, Gov. Henry McMaster proposed level funding for the arts in South Carolina.
The SC Arts Commission had submitted a budget request to the Governor’s office for increases in grant funding, arts education, and one-time funds for a facilities grant program.
It is important to note that the Governor’s budget is merely a proposal. The budget is created by the House first, then passed on to the Senate, all before the Governor receives it for signature or veto. The Arts Commission starts its House budget hearing process next week.
