The Scottie Award
The Scottie Award recognizes individuals who have had a tremendous and long-lasting impact to the arts in South Carolina. Awarded only at the discretion of the organization’s board of directors, not on a regular basis, the Scottie Award is the South Carolina Arts Alliance’s highest recognition.
The Scottie Award is named in honor of Scott Shanklin-Peterson, long-serving board member of the SCAA, former director of the SC Arts Commission, former Deputy Director of the National Endowment for the Arts, and the founding director of the Arts Management program at College of Charleston. The Scottie was first awarded to its namesake upon her appointment to the NEA in 1994.
